When was the last time you went to the movies for $4? Grab a $4 movie ticket (plus tax) this weekend. Many theatres are offering moviegoers this ridiculously low ticket price to celebrate National Cinema Day on Sunday, August 27, 2023. Some are offering $4 movie tickets on National Cinema Day for “every movie, showtime and format (IMAX and 3D included).”
There’s nothing like watching a movie at the cinema. You’ve got the big screen right out-front captivating your attention and the incredible sound system to take it all in. These days you can sink into much more comfortable seats, some of them even recline. And you may even score some great concession stand specials to cure your munchies.

The Last Time I Went to the Movies…
The last time I went to the movies was with my teenage daughter. We checked out Disney’s remake of The Little Mermaid earlier this summer. The theatre had it all. We got their special $6 ticket price going on a Tuesday. They also had an unbelievable deal on a large popcorn and drink. The movie theatre was well maintained with plush and adjustable seats. The screen and sound were both incredible. And above all, we enjoyed spending that few hours of movie run time together, escaping from everything (no phone or distractions) for just that moment.
What Makes Movies So Special
The People! What I love about the movies is that we get a chance to hear other people’s stories. Some of them are based on a real-life story and others show us the ingeniousness of the human imagination. The writers craft the most amazing stories, while the actors bring them to life for everyone to see.
As I write this post, I can’t help to think about all of the writers and actors who are on strike. I hope both sides come to a fair agreement soon. So they can start sharing their gifts and talents with us again.
