Benjamin Franklin is most known for being one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. He is also famously known for his words of wisdom on various topics. When it comes to money, he’s often remembered for saying “a penny saved is a penny earned.”
Some of Benjamin Franklin’s other words of wisdom on money are:
- “Beware of little expenses; a small leak will sink a great ship.”
- “Buy what thou hast no need of, and before long thou shalt sell thy necessaries.”
- “When you run in debt; you give to another power over your liberty.”
- “The borrower is a slave to the lender, and the debtor to the creditor.”
- “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”
- “Content makes poor men rich; discontent makes rich men poor.”
- “If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher’s stone.”
While hundreds of years have past since Franklin spoke these words, they still hold true today. We must remember:
- The small expenses can really add up and tank your finances.
- It’s always wise to evaluate your needs over wants.
- Being debt free gives you more financial freedom.
- Knowledge is the answer, but you must apply it to gain the most of it.
- Being content with what you have opens the door for more abundance in your life. And discontent has the opposite effect.
- Live below your means to get ahead.
Do you have any other words of wisdom on money you’d like to add?
