April is financial literacy month. This morning I had the pleasure of attending the 2011 Financial Literacy and Education Summit. This event provided a great opportunity to learn about the state of financial literacy in our country. The panel discussed government and private sector initiatives designed to improve financial education. And the key takeaway from the event was that — everyone plays a role in improving financial literacy. That’s true.
I’m very passionate about financial literacy. As a Money Smart Week® partner, I invite you to take advantage of free financial education events in your area. The mission of Money Smart Week® is “to promote personal financial literacy.” Money Smart Week® (April 2nd, 2011 through Saturday, April 9th) offers free financial seminars and classes across 26 states. Visit MoneySmartWeek.org for event details.
