Everyone has been talking about high concert ticket prices. We live in an environment where everything keeps going up. You still want to have fun and enjoy the experience, but you’re not willing to pay an arm and a leg to do so. I don’t blame you. Here are some great ways to help you save on concert tickets.

For starters, they say the early bird catches the worm. And sometimes you can really score great ticket prices when you buy early. My girlfriend’s tip on how to save even more is to join the artist’s fan account on Ticketmaster. When you do this, they send you a presale code to use when there is a concert coming. She was able to get tickets to the Beyoncé and Taylor Swift concerts using this strategy. She only paid $55 for Beyoncé and just $60 for Taylor Swift per ticket using this strategy. And she speculates the people sitting next to her at Taylor Swift may have paid $800 – $900 each.

An added bonus on buying early is that you get your tickets before they sell out. And you can avoid those ridiculous ticket markup prices. So the next time you hear about a concert coming to town, buy your tickets early.

Another thing you may want to try depending on the venue is buying direct from the box office. In some instances, the venue offers you the opportunity to buy tickets direct and save on the pricey surcharges. Be sure to call and ask first.

For example, my girlfriends and I are going to a summer concert at the Amphitheatre and we purchased our tickets at the box office. We paid $85.80 (including a $1 facility charge and 6% tax) per ticket vs. buying them on Ticketmaster for $101.25 each with those extra ticket fees. That’s roughly a 15% savings. An extra benefit of purchasing at the box office is sometimes they can give you insider info like special guest names and the best seats available.

Last, but not least, some credit cards offer you great perks, such as special presale ticket offers, discount prices and more access at the event. American Express is one card that offers early ticket access and discounts to some concerts. Check out your credit cards to find out if they offer you any benefits on concert tickets.
