Financial Literacy Month is here. And Money Smart Week is just around the corner.

In Chicago, Money Smart Week is April 22 – April 29th this year. Consumers will have the opportunity to come out and participate in hundreds of free financial education seminars and workshops across Chicagoland.

“Classes are open to people of all ages at businesses, financial institutions, schools, libraries, community organizations and government agencies throughout the Chicago area. The classes are designed to help consumers make informed decisions about their personal finances and are being put on by a broad coalition of local and regional partnering organizations.”

– Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago

These classes are all about helping you build a stronger financial future. Best of all, you don’t have to be worried about getting any sales pitches. The mission of Money Smart Week is to “help consumers manage their personal finances better. Programs are offered to all demographics and income levels, and cover all facets of personal finance.”

Today Money Smart Week takes place across many states. Click here to find out if any events are being held in your area.

What’s the Purpose of Money Smart Week?

Check out the video below, where I had the opportunity to sit down with former Senior Outreach Manager – Alejo Torres last year. Mr. Torres was one of the original architects of Money Smart Week.
